Glock 30 Mariner?
http://shootingmessengers.blogspot.c...0-mariner.html
Anyone ever heard of this or seen it? I've been wanting to change out the "cups" on my g-30 to make it waterproof (not to shoot underwater, just to make it rain and accident proof). Any idea where to get the "cups"? Price? Thoughts?

Re: Glock 30 Mariner?
Glock mariner spring cups are simply striker spring cups that are vented so water will pass through them easily as they move forward to strike the round's primer.
During testing, Glock found that a striker channel full of water would slow the striker down enough that it would misfire. By venting the plastic striker spring cups, the striker is able to fly forward with enough force to fire the gun.
It has ben rumored that these will allow the Glock to "fire under water". In the real world, they were simply designed for marine applications where the pistol might be exposed to water.
I have seen these spring cups for sale a few places, but I always pass. To each their own.

Re: Glock 30 Mariner?
Not that I am encouraging anybody to do this, but I want to state it just because it has been mentioned. IF someone was crazy enough to try to fire their pistol underwater, PLEASE make sure that you get all of the airbubbles out of the action and barrel. When that bullet starts out in air and all the sudden hits water it can initiate expansion inside the barrel of the pistol with VERY BAD results. I would NOT advise that you try this, but if someone did, please read up on it and do it properly.

Re: Glock 30 Mariner?
not to mention if you were completely submerged the shock-wave from the blast would most likely blow out your ear drums considering water amplifies sound waves. I'm just looking at these so i can make my glock water resistant and prepare it in case something where to happen where i would have to be submerged.
