Default Gunman sentenced to prison - plea deal no gun charges

Another classic reason why we need more common sense gun laws - NOT

    Gunman sentenced to prison

COURTHOUSE — A man who admitted to a shooting last fall in Norristown was sentenced to prison Thursday.

Kevin D. White, 31, who wounded a man in the leg with a .45 caliber handgun, pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person and was sentenced to time served to 23 months behind bars, according to court papers. He has been incarcerated since Sept. 16.

At 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, Norristown police Officer Carl Robinson Jr. found a man lying in the middle of the road in the first block of Elm Street unconscious and “bleeding heavily” from his right leg, according to a criminal complaint.

When he regained consciousness, the wounded man told police he had been walking on Willow Street near Roo House Tavern, when a suspect emerged from an alley and shot him. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and flew him to Jefferson University Hospital for emergency treatment.

The victim later told an investigator that emergency room doctors said he had lost at least two and a half pints of blood after he was wounded.

During the investigation, police reportedly found a .45 caliber shell casing on Willow Street, and a bullet hole in the rear hatch of a Saturn station wagon parked there. A slug embedded in the car’s front passenger door was recovered.

Later on Friday, a confidential source told an officer investigating the shooting that the gunman was known as “Soup,” and the source said the suspect lived at a Jacoby Street address with his girlfriend, authorities reported.

Four days after the shooting, the wounded man told detectives that when the gunman appeared out of the alley, he mentioned “something about money,” and when the victim saw the gun, he ran into the street and was hit in the leg by a bullet moments later.

The force of the .45 caliber round hitting the man reportedly propelled him into the parked Saturn, and he took cover seconds later, according to the complaint. When the gunman fired at him again, a bullet struck the back of the vehicle near the wounded man’s head. As he took off running south on Willow Street, he heard a third shot. Eventually, he collapsed on the first block of East Elm Street.

Det. Ray Emrich determined White was the suspected triggerman, and when he showed the recovering victim a photo array containing the suspect’s picture four days after the incident, the he immediately picked White out as the gunman, authorities stated.

Police issued an arrest warrant for White, and he was captured days later when he showed up at District Judge Margaret Hunsicker’s court on Johnson Highway to make arrangements to pay a fine. Police officers were inside the district court to transport other prisoners to jail and apprehended him.

Prosecutors withdrew aggravated assault and simple assault charges as well as a firearms charge originally filed against the defendant.

In 2000, White pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge and was sentenced to state prison, according to court papers.

JUST LOOK AT ALL of the FIREARM law violations NOT Prosecuted for a Felon to hurt someone, YET why do we need more gun laws.
Read it all and look at the past firearm law violations that was NOT USED, so when is the people that keep catch and release violent criminals going to be held accountable?

ONLY 23 months is a joke, look at that guys past record, every time there was a chance for the courts to send him a message that bad behavior will not be tolerated.
Don't be so quick to blast the bike rider. We don't know enough credible info to make that determination.
