What is a good double rifle case?
Hello All,
I'm looking for any suggestions as to what would be a good double rifle case that has keyed or combo latches and would be decent for airline travel. I'm not planning on airline travel anytime soon, but I would not want to be limited by the case on the off chance that I ever did want to fly my guns somewhere.
I'm also on a budget, I'm looking for the best case for the money that is $100 or under.
I'm planning on putting one scoped rifle and one shotgun in the case.
Thanks in advance!

Re: What is a good double rifle case?
Darn I thought you talking about a double rifle, Holland & Holland, Purdey, Rigby, Gibbs, or Woodward chambered in an African caliber like .600 Nitro Express or .700 Nitro Express.

Re: What is a good double rifle case?
That $100 limit for a double rifle case that will stand up to the rigors of airline travel may limit what you can do.
I'd look at the Plane/DoskoSport Pro MAx Double Scoped Rifle Case or the Deluxe Gunguard Series double rifle/shotgun case.
Wichester also sells an Aluminum double case with wheels (their Heavy Duty Series and WA Series) which should be close to your budget.
SKB also makes travel cases but you're looking at the $150 or so range.
Guardforce also makes airlin approved gun cases (GDS 6200Z series)
Hope this helps. Just don't cheap out on the case, I travel a lot (about 75,000 air miles a year) and I see what they can do to baggage.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

sportsmansguide.com offers several aluminum double cases for under $100. I have an aluminum Guide Series from Gander Mountain that I believe was in that range as well. I've never used it for airline but it certainly takes a beating otherwise and has held up fine.

Could also always use Ebay..I bought 2 very nice double rifle cases there for pretty cheap. Forget the brand they are, but they're of nice quality.

Re: What is a good double rifle case?
Thanks for the advice. I think I like the Plano Pro Max case the best as it will be the most simple case that will meet my needs at this point. I will have to buy some external locks for it though, which will be a bit more of a hassle over having them built in. Any advice here as to which locks work best? Should they be keyed or combo? Does it matter?
Thanks again!

I have an SKB and the bums down at the airlines can`t kill it. I`ve been to B.C. , Alberta , New Brunswick and Newfoundland and I just laugh at them. A real good case for a buck 125.
