    Default First .22 pistol!

After hemming and hawing over what I really wanted with a .22 pistol (and even thinking of going revolver for some kick-ass squirrel hunting), I finally decided on a Ruger SR22 with threaded barrel. Hickok45 had a review on his youtube channel that talked me into it, and it really fits my hand like a glove. Now I have a decent training pistol for my wife and kids to learn how to shoot, and a project--going through the process to get a suppressor.

I shot a few rounds off today, but am really going to put it through it's paces tomorrow (yep, found .22 ammo today too!). Totally different feel from the DOA trigger of my Sig P290.

The SR22 is a nice little .22. I like it's bigger .22 brothers, but it comes to the range every time my wife comes with me, and i like to shoot it.
Under 25 yards it's dead on and feeds everything I shoot. I can hit the black on a target at 50 yards everytime. That's good comming out of a little gun.

Awesome. Definitely put some thought into your suppressor.
Of course there are dedicated .22lr suppressors designed solely for pistols.
If it was me I would look for one that will be balanced for multiple guns.
Also one that will work on slightly larger calibers also. That way you will have versatility and could apply it to say a bolt action .22lr, an AR or even a 5.7x28.
Will a dedicated .22lr only can be quieter...yes, but a slightly larger bore will still get the job done.
    Good luck.

Congrats! I am looking into a SR22 using the excuse "it will be my introduction pistol for new shooters, and nothing I have currently fits the bill"

I'm loving it. Ate up over 100 rounds of federal bulk hollow point with 1 misfire that shot the second time around. (and yes, that's my kid's old diaper bag repurposed to a range bag )

My rifle is another story. It needs some work before squirrel season.

Very nice choice on the SR22. Glad to see you're enjoying it out on the range!

Great little gun! It was my first gun, bought back in December.

I've only had one range trip ruined with this gun, and that was due to using Remington Thunderbolts. After firing about 100 rounds of the lead Thunderbolts through it, the barrel was caked in lead, and the bullets were going everywhere, except on target.

Since then, all I've used are the CCI copper plated, and haven't had a problem since that incident.

The troubling part, (depending how you look at it) is that the SR22 was my first gun, purchased on 12/7/12, and since then, I've bought 4 more guns, and a Dillon 550 reloading press.

I've become addicted to shooting. Is that a bad thing or a good thing? LOL

I'm liking that lefty/righty shooting table. You don't see that at every gun range.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
