    Default Garand Collectors Association

My garanditis just had a flare up. Got their winter magazine. Pallets of garands, all going to the CMP. Pictures of them stacked 10 to a layer and 10 layers high, then shrink wrapped. 19,000 in all. 190 PALLETS of M-1's. Some never issued. MINT/NIB condition. I forsee a trip to the North Store coming this spring, or sooner. I want me a H&R.

Orest from the CMP thinks maybe he will create a new catorgory for the unissued Greek returns. He says something like super collector grade. Will be too much for my sickness for sure. Maybe another special grade for me.

I don't think any of the unissued ones will make their way to the stores. Just my thought. It'd be nice to go see one though if they do. lol.

I have 1 SG SA, and hope to pick up a SG HRA and SG special SA some time this year.

I can't afford nor do I want one of the unissued ones. But I would like to hold/fondle a couple. I'm leaning towards a service grade H&R. Maybe a field grade if I found a nice one. More money for ammo that way.

I've found really nice field grades that gauged well, just had wood with some character. The ones I've boughten cleaned up nice.

I've always bought SGs mail order and have never been dissappointed. I did find a nice FG in the North Store SA reciever, VAR barrel, Beretta oprod and trigger group, and every other M1 manufacturer represented in the smaller parts with walnut wood. The barrel measured a 2 at each end and it is my best shooting M1 (1 1/2" @100 yd with HXP). The reason I think it was sold as a FG is it had an arsenal repair to the stock and the finish didn't meet SG specs.
