    Default Long gun Carry

    I searched and can't find it/don't remember.

Is it legal to concealed carry a long gun that isn't a "firearm?"

Is it legal to open carry a long gun that isn't a "firearm?"

I need to edit this answer to be strickly for ON FOOT.
In a vehicle you can not carry any "long gun" (long gun is any rifle or shotgun not meeting the definition of "firearm" per the UFA), loaded, per §6106.1

Anything longer than the maximum barrel length used to define a 'firearm' in the UFA.

“Firearm.” Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.

well now that all depends on which statute you read and the "definition" of firearms pertaind to said statute.......

but for the most part any "long gun" is not a firearm as it applies to a LTCF, it's only a firearm when the pics check is required......and muzzleloader aren't firearms, except when you read the game laws and it pertains to a loaded firearm in a vehicle........

    see.....the definition changes.......depends

Firearm defined for certain portions of the UFA:
    SS6102
"Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less
than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18
inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or
any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of
less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be
determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the
face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is

The statutes that the subchapter definition (listed in my previous post) does not apply to have their wn definition within the statute. So it's pretty straight forward.

    § 6102. Definitions.
Subject to additional definitions contained in subsequent
provisions of this subchapter which are applicable to specific
provisions of this subchapter, the following words and phrases,
when used in this subchapter shall have, unless the context
clearly indicates otherwise, the meanings given to them in this
    section:
