Default Police: Marine dies in argument over football game

    http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/1...-football-game

HAVELOCK, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina are saying a Marine was accidentally shot to death when he got into an argument with a friend over the Texas-Nebraska football game.

Police say 21-year-old Johnathan Clinton Rodriguez was shot early Sunday after banter escalated with a fellow Marine at a home in Havelock, a town near the coast. Authorities say Rodriguez got into a scuffle with 23-year-old Lionel Loya, who had a gun that went off during the struggle.
Loya has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. It's unclear whether he has an attorney. He was transferred to military authorities who didn't immediately return a telephone message Monday night.

Texas beat Nebraska 13-12 on a last-second field goal to win the Big 12 championship Saturday.

What a freakin waste!!! Hate to see this kind of thing. The bottom line is, a young, productive life was needlessly cut short. RIP Marine!!

I have seen this type of maturity level among some of the marines down in North Carolina while visiting my brother who is also a marine. I am all for respecting anyone in the armed forces but there are some of those whose maturity levels should not allow them to be there.

What I find equally pathetic is that the author has to stick to journalistic duties and include the score and status of the teams that played.

I cant believe the mentality of people to argue over such an asinine thing which is completely out of either's control, let alone someone getting killed for such things.

I had thought the same thing. Maybe he had a character minimum he needed to fill, and he was to lazy to find anything else out about the real story.

But in this situation which was the defective gene? Or were they both, and were stuck with a parasite now feeding off the host for the next 20 years to life.

I'd say both....it takes two for a fight and I doubt it was the kind of fight one of them couldn't have avoided easily if he wasn't a complete moron.

But then again, who really knows...it might just have been a friendly scuffle and not really a fight, in which case, this really, really sucks.
    Almost a LIB .... ertarian
