MLOK rail nut problematic
The latest 15" M-LOK rail offered by Bear Creek has eight screws, bettering the previous design using six screws. Solid! Love it! However...
The barrel nut has flats for torqueing that on first blush appear to be 30mm but is slightly larger, (several thousandths over per calipers) necessitating grinding open the jaws on a 30mm crow's foot wrench. Suppose it is an M-LOK marketing ploy forcing sale of proprietary wrenches?
ETA: May be the nut is not 30mm at all. A 1-3/16 wrench is .0065" wider. Maybe that's what I should have used.
Just posting so other's can be alerted to the situation.Last edited by Bang; September 26th, 2024 at 08:05 PM.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: MLOK rail nut problematic
Yes, it*s 1-3/16* I*ve run into this size on several rails over the years. Many have measured their BCA Barrel Nut flats at 1.188*. And there are many rails that use the identical Barrel Nut. It*s one of the sizes of Crow*s Foot I*ve had for a lot of years.
