Default Fixing The Tapco G2 Hammer Binding Problem

Customer's Hammer came in todays mail and will go out today below see what has to be done to make a Tapco G2 Hammer Trouble Free.

They are Very Hard so if you mill small slow cuts and Plenty Of Lube Is The Ticket Here. Total material removal can vary but .050 is a Real Good Ballpark Figure. Pictured with the Moded Tapco is a Polish Select Fire Hammer to show the more effective profile than even these fine hammers come from the factory with. High Luster Polishing also helps in cycling.

    Neat!

A solution looking for a problem!

Now, how do you deal with the hammer striking the firing pin on an angle?

I wouldn't quite say that. I've seen and shot AK's that he's built and I can say without an ounce of hesitation that he knows what he's talking about. The trigger on the AK is generally crap in my opinion. The trigger John did on my friend's underfolder was the NICEST trigger I'd ever used on ANY semi auto and it was one he did himself.

John is able to legally use the original FCG's after some modification and I can tell you that compared to century triggers or tapco triggers....you guys are missing out.

    John,

Can you describe your high luster polishing technique? Im guessing just fine grit paper?

With and AK Hammer Cocked one should be able to insert the Bolt Carrier with the barrel pointed at the ground and have the bolt and carrier slide to the Lock Up with NO Help. Tapco's G2 Hammer is a constant problem of this as a USA Made Part and known by most all as the problem for the BC Hang Up upon closing.

Polishing is done with an abrasive wheel and then finished on a Felt and then Musslin Wheel with polish after Milling. A little Geometry check here and you'll see that the Hammer does contact the Firing Pin Squarely. And the company's explaination of it "Just Needs To Wear In" is again Total BS.
