How do you maintain your pistol?
For me, I am speaking about my Glock 26 so if you have one of those any input you have would be great! The only info or instruction I have to go on is that given to me by my husband. I am just curious as to how everyone else cleans and maintains their pistol. I want to take the best care of Roxi that I can and I am a firm believer in having lots of information on a subject from various sources before concluding what is going to work out the best for me. I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance. I know you guys and gals will not disappoint.

Re: How do you maintain your pistol?
I think there was a link posted for a youtube clip. I am not sure where it is. I am sure some one will be along to point it out. I have heard manny times that glocks do not like to be over oiled.

Re: How do you maintain your pistol?
I gave mine a bath on Saturday.
I went wading down the river for small mouth bass, and my Glock 19 spent much of the day submerged under water.
When I got home I took it apart and put it away to dry for a few hours. I then cleaned and lubed all of the metal parts inside and out. Wipe off the extra oil as Glocks require far less oil than some guns. I also had to take apart and dry the mag...and seperate that ammo from normal carry ammo.
Squeaky clean!
The Glock manual shows the oil points for normal use. Run a brush down the barrel followed by a patch. Oil in the correct locations and wipe the rest of the gun down with a soft cloth perhaps LIGHTLY oiled.
Not much to it...Glocks like many polymer guns are very forgiving when it comes to cleaning.
A 5 hour bath in the river is NOT in the manual....attempt at your own risk.

Re: How do you maintain your pistol?
depends what gun.
my carry gun, a p380, i take apart every few days, being in a pocket it loads up with lint.
the wheel guns get wiped down after each outing and throughly cleaned every couple of outings.
any semi gets a once over every few outtings. they'res a few select pieces that get a through cleaning after every outting, the p08 being one, a colt1911 another.
any one of them can be subject to a good going over during tv time during the week.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: How do you maintain your pistol?
I blow the crap out of the barrel and action with compressed air and load it back up, then put back under the pillow, covers, or where ever.

You sleep with your pistol under your pillow? Is this a common thing that people do?
