bullet discolor?
i have had my ammo in my gun for about 1 year now and the bullets have gotten dull due to the elements.......does this effect the performace of the bullet? and how often should i change out my carry ammo?? the ammo in question is the 9mm 147gn winchester rangers with the nickel casing....thanks guys

It's not a big deal that you get a dull finish to the bullets. It is only cosmetics and the ammo will function fine. People have been known to shoot ammo that's 50+ years, so no worries.

No, it won't hurt performance. If it's something your carrying change them out every six months or year to make sure they are clean and you don't have a cycling problem if your worried about it. Nickel casings should be good for a long time though. They will be shiny when they come out of the barrel.

thanks guys....i was leaning towards the whole its ok but i just wanted to make sure when i pull the trigger i hear a bang and not a click

Probably fine, I used to regularly shoot Turkish 8mm from the 1930s until it all dried up.

Whiterook.........Question for ya???
When you said "all dried up", do you mean they are "all shot up", or do you mean there was a problem with the old ammo not firing?
I have 2 ammo boxes full of '06 and 308 that I hope to shoot one of these days and it's 40+ yrs old. Looks good other than a slight discolor to be expected. They are packed loose in military ammo cans with a good seal.
Anyone see any problems with this idea?
