Default How can I get a nice glossy finish?

Now that rifle is over I decided to strip my gun and clean it. Doing so I noticed a small amount of pitting on the barrel. I took my model 94 win. and started sanding and now the entire gun is stripped of its bluing. I would like to get a nice glossy finish on it, does anyone have any ideas? I have cold blued before but I really want this to look nice and if I am going to blue it I want to do it right, I don't have the means to hot blue it myself, or the money to send it out really. I just want a nice finish for my at home project.

Glossy and powdercoat really dont go together. But is a nice level of protection..

To get a glossy sheen with bluing you have to polish the metal. Hot bluing does a better job. Cold bluing offers near no rust protection.

even a satin or flat powder coating is very glossy compared to a liquid coating

Brownells makes a product called Aluma-Hyde II. It has some awesome specs:

    1. Its in a spray can, no airbrush needed.
    2. You dont need to sandblast like duracoat. Just fine steel wool it.
    3. It doesnt need to be baked on. Its an epoxy.
    4. Comes in 9 colors, including Gloss black.

Here is a link to the video instruction, and the link is at he bottom of the page.

Nice, I wish I could get a better view of what it looks like when it's cured.
