Default Protecting Shooting Ranges Across the Nation

ANTI-GUN people are everywhere, when they get in positions of power in the government bureaucracy they have the ability under "legal" regulation authority to take or restrict your rights on public and private property all in the name of "public safety".

Some of these ideas may seem crazy yet some of these same ideas have been talked about in PA.

One of the reasons (or rumor, I hope it is just that only ) I heard that the lead mitigation program is going on at the public Pa Game Commission ranges is because the DEP is going to start next on private gun cubs at some future point for lead contamination to shut them down or bankrupt them. (Again this is just hearsay at this point and I have no public statement to back this up from anyone, so treat this as a rumor only).

Why We Need to Act Now to Make Sure
That We'll Have a Place to Shoot in the Future

For ten years, we've been fighting government bureaucrats trying to close shooting ranges.

The bureaucrats hatched a scheme using junk science regulations aimed at closing shooting ranges on public lands nationwide. Then they tested these new regulations by closing a local shooting range in Tucson, Arizona.

Then they called a conference to try to create new regulations to ban informal shooting on public lands as well.

But they weren't expecting the fury of outrage from gun owners.

We jammed that conference hall with gun owners.

We flooded our congressional delegation with letters, phone calls and email.

We took our case to Congress and got a congressional hearing, where we revealed all the dirty tricks, scam science and outrageous regulations that the bureaucrats were using.

Thanks to a Republican controlled congress and the thousands of gun owners, we stopped the new anti-shooting regulations and the bureaucrats received a harsh congressional rebuke for their anti shooting range scheming.

But now with the Democrats in power in Congress and the candidacy of Hillary Clinton, the bureaucrats are at it again!

Here are some of the outrageous regulations that they want to resurrect:

Shooting ranges should be treated as hazardous waste sites because of the specious claim that lead bullets threaten the environment. One junk science theory claimed that lead bullets could poison earthworms and birds could be poisoned by eating the earthworms.

The Justice Department would be asked to sue gun clubs to pay for a "hazardous waste cleanup" of the shooting range, to "protect the environment". They even tried to get permission to sue individual gun club members for the "cleanup"!

A shooting range must be closed if anyone, even though in violation of range rules, could fire a gun in any direction and have the bullet travel off the range property. This policy requires that a shooting range be enclosed in a huge bulletproof astrodome or be located on a parcel of land over six miles square in order to be "safe"! Predictably, no shooting range can meet such a requirement.

The sound of gun fire is disturbing to wildlife and must therefore be mitigated. Shooting must be inaudible 100 yards from the range in all directions. Clearly, no ordinary outdoor range can meet this standard.

A license would be required to shoot a gun on public lands.

While shooting on public lands, a gun owner's firearms would be subject to inspection.

Gun owners would be required to carry proof that their guns are "legally owned and approved", when shooting on public lands.

Only approved targets would be allowed on public lands.

Other proposals would have given local bureaucrats broad discretion to ban shooting virtually anywhere on public lands, if that area was deemed "inappropriate for shooting".

Don't let liberal bureaucrats get away with closing gun ranges and banning shooting!

We want to keep up this fight but we need your help

Sounds like a good reason to put pressure on congress to make supressors completely legal and unregulated nationwide. Then, maybe the prices will come down to reasonable levels and more people would use them.
