To the best of my knowledge the SHOT show is only open to dealers/industry members and the press, not the general public.

    I could be wrong...

Correct. The only way I see getting around that, is being a guest to one the mentioned parties. And as I understand it, they are actively trying to reduce the number of guests allowed overall. When I say guest, I mean "really not" a dealer or industry member. I'm sure you can smell the touristy gun nuts a mile away.

I could be wrong as well, but I read a few articles the past few years mentioning issues like this. We're limited to the NRA conventions when it comes to meeting Industry personnel.

As others have mentioned, SHOT Show is not open to the general public though some folks with the right connections manage to gain admission. I won't detail how they play the system to circumvent admission but it is done.

If you're fortunate enough to get a chance to go, it is an amazing experience and you will feel like a kid in a candy store. Lots of cool SWAG, misc. freebies, and raffles for stuff.

Ultimately, it is a place for industry people to do business and take orders from customers and this is why it isn't open to the general public.

4 Days is not enough to see everything there is at the show. Last year I didn't realize there was another hall till the last day.

    1. Bring comfortable shoes.
    2. Bring a backpack for SWAG and a bottle of water
    3. Dress in layers
    4. Don't be one of those people that don't wear deodorant
    5. There is a Walgreens right outside the Palazzo if you need to grab stuff for your hotel room
    6. Leave the literature stuff behind - it just takes up space in the bag
    7. If you want to handle a product, ask first.
    8. Bring a camera for those rare opportunities you meet an industry celebrity like Gunny; I have not had any issues with folks stopping me.
    9. Most things are not for sale at the vendors but if you swing around on the last day they may sell it to you.

Other questions, feel free to ask.

Two days isn't enough to take in everything. Three days is just right. Smart move with the luggage. My wife travels with me so we leave room in both bags; you'll need it.
