well i'm stumped , scope wont adjust?

So i mounted a brand new centerpoint 3-9x32 scope on my Marlin 983 .22mag, nice looking scope , nice glass for a inexpensive scope, problem is: the scope wont adjust to where i move the crosshairs, say i'm shooting 2 inches left,if i adjust the scope to move back 2 inches right the poi will still remain 2 inches left.

When i bore sight the scope through my bore sighter you will see the reticle move to where i put it but when i shoot the rounds will not show the adjustment it will still shoot 2 inches left e.g.
Anybody come accross this problem and what were the solution?

sometimes (especially the cheaper scopes) you have to shoot a few rounds after you adjust it in order for it to "settle in", or lighty tap the top of it after you make the adjustment.

+ 1 on the lightly tapping. Had it happen before, except I would shoot a few before it would move. Tore my hair out before I figured it out.

I know It may sound stupid but double check tightness of all screws on scope mounts.

Not a problem, I'm pretty sure the tapping or shooting a few to settle it in before adjusting again should do the trick, unless its a faulty scope..

Well, I know you’re not an idiot, and you have obviously sited in scopes before if you have done the above and still no change. I'd start looking for my receipt and return the scope as faulty and get a new one to try or upgrade. No sense beaten yourself up when you have a bad scope, it just happens.

I put a "Cheap" 4-16X scope on my marlin 22 last year and had a similiar problem. I took it off and reset it - same issue. It ended up that the problem was that the scope was at it's limits of adjustment. I used a different set of mounts that I had sitting around and the scope sighted in fine then. (Just an idea to try if nothing else works.)

put it back on the bore sighter and see if you can move the cross hair both left and right of the center, that will tell you if you are at the extreme range of adjustment or not. if you cannot it must be the way it is mounted.
