Why shoot snakes ?
Why would you ever need to shoot a snake ? I don't get it. Usually they will try to get away from you.
The reason I ask is with guns like the Taurus Judge people say that the shotshell shooting ability would make it good for snakes.
Where are all these snakes that need to be shot ?

...because it is easier than chopping off a little bit of their tail off right behind their head with a shovel.

Re: Why shoot snakes ?
They may run away from you, but they might not from your pet. We had five foot black snakes all over the place that could have easily grab one of our puppies, kittens, chicks, or rabbits.
As far as the Taurus Judge being good for snakes, I just think people are trying to find something such a cool gun can actually be useful for. Nothing beats a .22 for snakes.I'll vote for Romney when he promises not to run in 2016.

I've heard it said that fear is just lack of knowledge.
You'd be surprised at how much I don't know about snakes.

Re: Why shoot snakes ?
Long ago I was in Navy, stationed in Florida. Did a lot of fishing with a great guy who was deathly afraid of snakes. He had a nice 12ft aluminum john boat we took out often.
We were out in a back tributary of the St. Johns river, lots of overhanging trees. "Plop"....a water moccasin lands in the boat between us, dropped in from one of the tree limbs. Hank got all excited reached into his tackle box and proceeded to blow a hole in the the bottom of his boat with a .38. The next round in the cylinder was actually snake shot and not a regular slug, he fired again and dispatched the snake.
He drove the boat while I bailed, fishing was over for the day.
That's why they make snake shot.Last edited by 762xIan; January 19th, 2011 at 03:00 AM.
