Default Shot my new Mossy 20" persuader with Pistol grip

    And it sucked!!!!
    My hand still hurts!
I can't really aim for anything
And did I mention my hand still hurts!!

And I was shooting 2 3/4" 1oz. #8 shot. I took 00buckshot and 1oz. rifled slug, and I didn't even bother with buck shot and slug.

I guess it'll be a great home defence weapon if Mr. Badguy was few feet away, then it'll do, but anything else, its useless as way it is!

I need some sort of sholder stock. And real sight or red dot!!

More money goes out of my pocket..

Really? Man I didn't think it would be that bad...

I shot my 18" 870 with a 3" magnum 00BK holding it at the hip just grasping around the standard stock - and the only thing it hurt was my middle finger knuckle. As the trigger guard came back and hit me in the knuckle part of my finger and it was really cold out.

I do have a ported breaching choke. Maybe that drastically helps reduce felt recoil?

Standard stock ftw I guess? I hit what I was aiming at about 35yds out every single time. 00BK / slugs / etc. This is my first shotgun... and I was using the ghost ring sights that came on the mall ninja heat shield.

I was highly considering just going with the pachmayr pistol grip for it. Since the stock is way too long for me to actually be comfortable. And then I could roll like this... Is it really THAT bad, or are you just being a sissy?

    I keed I keed...

I think reason why it hurts my hand so bad was that shape of pistol grip.
back side of grip, right where web of your hand goes(more specificaly, where metacarpus of your thumb and carpus meet), is rather square, and I have somewhat smallish hand. Back of my Metacarpus took almost all the recoil

I think I could spend sometime with dremal and sand paper, i could make it much better fit to my hand, but I think sholder stock, which my sholder takes majority of recoil, would be a big help. But if I was to keep the pistol grip configuration, I'm investing $$$ in these

Which incorporates a special Tamer insert under the web of the hand

I couldn't aim the weapon, because I dare not bring weapon up to my eye level to aim.
with sholder stock, it would allows me to bring weapon up to my sholder level(and with free from fear of zygomatic fracture), and something little better then bead front sight, I can accurately be able to aim the weapon...

This is my first shotgun, and I've never shot one before. I guess I didn't expect it to kick that much

If you know of anyone have them in stock, please let me know, as everwhere I look are out of them

MrAnderson, I thought about picking one of them when I got the weapon. Probrem is that it will prevents me to mount any sort of optics. If anything, I'd rather do a side folder..

I am going to invest in a good stock for a few shotty's i have. Havent decided which ones and everything. I want one thats very versatile. I like the pistol grip but i want to shoot one in that configuration first before i go all out. Hows the folders work? I mean I mean proficiency/accuracy/comfort. Not looking to spend a whole lot, and i also have a quick question that will sound like a newb one. How do you make your shotty hold more than 3 shells. I heard about a magazine extension or a tube extension. Anyways I know this sounds like a newb question but i figure ill find out what all i need to make my home defense shotty before they start banning all the guns like that new bill out the 45r? Ill have to look it up again, THAT LOOKS FRIKKIN SCARY AND pisses me off.

You do not aim it in that configuration.

    That is a point-shooting set-up.

If you are having those issues, go to a 20 ga.

Same thing happened first time I shot my 18" 500. It had a folding plastic stock w/ pistol grip. Took it off an put on the Pachmayr Vindicator. Great grip. Makes recoil totally manageable. They also sell a set w/ the matching foregrip. The foregrip doesn't really do much as far as recoil goes, but it's nice to have the curtains match the rug, so to speak.
