Default suggestions on synthetic stock painting

got a great deal on a stery prohunter, not to thrilled about the stock color though. wondering if anyone could give me any advice on painting it. problem is, the stock is textured, dont think it can be sanded prior to painting. just wondering if a good acetone bath and primer would make the paint stick. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

If you have an oven large enough to fit the stock into, I'd recommend Norrell's Moly Resin or KG Gunkote. Both products are more durable compared to Duracoat, due to them being thermal cured items. It may get warm enough in FL if you decide to bake the stock in your car. I'd recommend using tin foil to make sure you can get at least 200 degrees. The Norrell's and KG require baking for one hour at 300 degrees. Baking plastic, I would bake at a lower temp...say 200-250 for 1.5 hours.

With Duracoat, you should allow it to cure for approx. 4 weeks. With moly resin, you bake and it's ready to go. Duracoat has the advantage of offering various colors and you can camo your firearms. A lot of people also like the fact that you don't have to bake with Duracoat, but as I stated it's not as durable as the other two finishes.
