Beretta 92FS?
I'm looking at buying a new 9 and wondering what people's opinions are on the Beretta 92FS? Will be mainly a target gun and fun shooter, but perhaps may be used for carry in the future. Opinions?

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I lot of people talk smack on the 92fs, I don't know why. I have owned one for 10 years and have never had a single problem with it. High cap mags, low recoil, accurate and a classy looking weapon IMHO. I bit bulky and heavy for carry on the other hand but good shooters none the less. Go for it.
I love that stainless...

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I have a 92FS i bought new in 2003. It was my first pistol. It is Super easy to clean. and shoots well. My 92 has the red dot sights which I really do not care for anymore. I did put the Crimson Trace lasergrips on it, they were a nice addition. oh by the way. If you do buy it, when your cleaning it you will se what looks like a crack on the slide where the hammer hits the firing pin. Dont worry it is supposed to be there.

My first handgun (I was 12) was a 92FS. Defenitley a good, fun gun.

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I've had one going on 16 years now. Although I fell in love with a P-220, the 92FS is a sweet gun. Ultra reliable and very accurate. Other than having the locking block finally break a year or so ago, I've never ever had a problem with my Beretta.
My college age son simply loves it. I swear I have to pat him down after we leave the range to make sure he hasn't snagged it yet!!

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I own a Taurus 92af, the bastard twin to the berretta. I have had numerous 9mm's and by far this plays second to only my browning hi-power. Its an easy to shoot, comfortable and intimidating platform. True its a bit bulky but you can thank Hollywood for adding a degree of mistique and instant recognition to this gun which means if you choose to carry it and ever need to present it in a situation your aggressor will have INSTANT recognition of what hes faced with. Many thumbs up on this choice. Do yourself a favor though and check out Taurus's version of this as many feel it is as equal to or even better than the quality of the berretta at several hundred less. Just a thought.

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I've owned both the Beretta and the Taurus and both were excellent shooters. As I had several 9's at the time they became expendable (both were used in trades for other weapons). It would be a toss up on which I liked better. As stated previously the Taurus was much cheaper but worked great. I liked both but I have a S&W 5906 that fits my hand perfectly and is a natural pointer for me. It is one of my regular carry weapons.
If you can get the 92FS at a good price you really can't go wrong. If paying full price, check out the Taurus 92AF (basically the same gun but cheaper).Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Beretta 92FS?
I personally would steer you toward a CZ75B instead of the beretta, I looked at both when I was choosing a range gun, and decided on the 75 because the beretta just didn't fit my hand.
You'll also be able to find the CZ a bit cheaper brand new VS. the beretta.Drew Bingaman Chair Susquehanna Valley Libertarian Party

He he he, Carlito Brigante had a Beretta 92F in Carlito's Way. You can see him in my avatar.
Them Italian know how to make beautiful weapons. But me myself prefer Russian and German weapons, however I am just a little more partial to the Russian ones.........they're pretty ugly and that is how me like them. He he he.......
