    Cool ruger mk2 malfunctions

If you are really familiar with the mk2 perhaps you could help. Once upon a time my gun ate anything. One day gun stops fully chambering rds. Tip of recoil spring guide was cracked so I got a replacement. Gun shot fair one day then almost refused to function the same as it was, when it would chamber and fire, the gun would flip the empty and wedge it behind the recoil guide rod. At this point some ammo would shoot better than others (three tried), none of the mags were any better than any other. After again cleaning and inspecting, the extractor had the slightest chip out of the hook so I replaced it with a power custom titanium. Now the gun will chamber and fire 8-10 of 10. The current symptom is a stovepipe. The only thing that isn't per spec is the ejector which has a little play in the rivet. As far as I'm aware its always been that way. A friends has some play also but his works fine. Does anyone know alot about them, what to check or how to snug that rivet without marring anything?

Dave: theres 2 things you can do here:

1, CAREFULLY restake the ejector, using a mandrel inside the receiver

    2. send it to Ruger. They have fast and very good customer service.

guess which is the best choice;-)

    Cool Re: ruger mk2 malfunctions

jaybell, I think you're right about the service. I saw the bad extractor and wasn't gonna send it back for that so I just fixed it. Just wasn't sure if the play was normal or acceptable. I suppose it could be something else and wanted to see if someone else had other ideas. I don't think I'd mess with the rivet just to avoid marring anything. Thanks
