Does your pistol shooting "dry up" over the winter months?
Living in rural NEPA as I do I find that my pistol shooting slacks off a lot over the winter months. There are NO indoor ranges within an hour of my residence that accept anything larger than a .22. I think the Legion might have one in Towanda, PA.
How is your shooting affected in the winter months?
Is any kind of air gun a suitable substitute?

Re: Does your pistol shooting "dry up" over the winter months?
my shooting in winter requires the use of gloves do to the sharp recoil of my light weight guns. s&w 642 keltec pf9 and p3at. they really sting when its cold. i like to shoot very early as i use the state gameland range and its not crowed at 8:00 am.

Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

Nah I keep shooting. Although down here it doesn't really get cold so I continue to shoot. Now when I got to NY to hunt or shoot rifles in the winter it's cold but it doesn't affect my range time. Remember, there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate dress for the conditions. Dress warmly and you won't notice the weather....to an extent.

Re: Does your pistol shooting "dry up" over the winter months?
My shooting picks up in the winter months due to our winter pistol league/practice. It helps that I only live 5 minutes from my indoor pistol range too.
I have never heard of shooting at snowmen! I can't wait for snow now... thanks!

Shouldn't you practice in the winter too? Bad guys don't go away in the winter.
When you're wearing your heavy winter coat and and gloves, how quickly can you get to your weapon and fire? Can you do so with gloves, or must you remove them?

i have found, a bit to my surprise, that shooting an airsoft replica of my glock actually keeps my real-glock shooting skills pretty sharp.
and you can shoot 'em in your basement.
i have also found that dry-firing my real glock does wonders for my glock shooting (and draw and reloads, etc. etc.) as well. you can do that in your living room.F*S=k

With less things that have to be done around the house, there is more time to go shoot. I do have two indoor ranges nearby for the nasty days and I still go out on the decent ones.
