    Default Disposing of bad ammo

I was target shooting my S&W .22 revolver today and pulled out an old box of ammo (Western Super X .22 short 29 grain rimfire, lubaloy coated). These have a coating of wax on them. I don't remember where or when I got them, but they could be as much as 15 years old.

They were a very tight fit in the chambers. The brass was fine but the bullet seemed to have a hardened wax crust all the way around. I am pretty sure the wax is supposed to be soft. I pushed them in all the way with some difficulty, and they shot with no trouble and the shells ejected easily. I stopped using them but I have another box (50) of the same.

So noob question: I don't really want to shoot them, how can I safely get rid of these rounds? Or for that matter any rounds you do not want to shoot?

    Shoot at them!

Kidding. I don't know either besides the suggestions already left.

Give them a quick spray of wd-40 and a wipe with a cloth towel.

This should soften the wax and they will slide right in.

Shoot them all in one go, since wd-40 has a rep of creeping into primers over time.

WD-40 should work. Thanks for the suggestion.
