It wants to be a AR15
Its a Marlin-60 .22 tube fed, older the dirt.
With a Winfield 3x9x32 also older then dirt.
Notice halogen flashlight tie rapped to front stock.
Its great for defense from 'fuzzy little woodland creatures' invading your deck and BBQ parties.
It works great!!!
( AND THE KIDS LOVE SHOOTING IT )

LOL I know what you mean. After my brother picked one up and got tired of the wood stock he wanted something a little more tactical. So we picked up the ati stock and is really lite weight now.

Yes! and with a little 'American Ingenuity' we have a fun gun.
The flash light is from WalMart about $12
The stock from Midway about $29
I have a hold new respect for Marlin Quality.

Re: It wants to be a AR15
I have 3 of those here, one has the same stock on it.
Actually one of mine is the model 75C but its just a old carbine version.
Our club runs a Youth Day where we help the kids with many outdoor shooting sports. I run the .22 range and we have 4 of the Marlin model 60 rifles. They run through HUNDREDS of rounds that day and very seldom do we have any malfunctions. I have the pleasure of cleaning those rifles....and its damn amazing they run as gunked up as they get inside. The model 60 is a really under rated rifle. The Ruger 10/22 deserves its reputation, but the Marlin model 60 is a great gun dollar for dollar.
The only thing I did to these rifles was to drill and tap them for a one piece rifle base. The 3/8 dovetail allows the scope to slide rearward when they get hot....and these kids keep em hot!

Re: It wants to be a AR15
You and my grandfather have to be related. He duct taped and sighted in a $10 laser pointer on his old single shot .22. He is committing squirrel genocide, and then eating them.
Now while I am a hick at heart I just have too much suburbia in me to eat a squirrel unless I had to. It is too similar to the waterboy“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!” ~Samuel Adams
You cannot invade America. There is a rifle behind every blade of grass.” ~ Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

Re: It wants to be a AR15
You need to get a 10/22 and then trick that out into an AR15 wannabee.
