    Default Curio & Relic license

I tried googling this specifically for Philly or even PA and can't really find anything. NFA seems like the closest section for my question.

My question is on obtaining a C&R license in Philadelphia so I can legally forgo FFL's to obtain older firearms to collect and enjoy. I have the forms in front of me and filling them out I notice a copy needs to be sent to a CLEO and you need a pic and fingerprints taken. Has anyone done this in Philly most pertinently and is there any trouble in getting a C&R license in Philly? I know A CLEO won't sign off on a form 4 for NFA goodies so you have to do the whole LLC/Trust route. From the looks of it a C&R doesn't need to be signed off on, just to notify the local CLEO, am I reading this correctly??

Any insight will be much appreciated.

others more familiar with philly will chime in. my father just got his recently and as per him it is simply a notification issue not a sign off. he never even heard from the cleo. good luck have fun, some of the oldies are fun to shoot and not to mention the designs of these guns are interesting.

This. No sign off etc needed. You just need to inform the local cleo with a copy of your form and a small note saying that it's not a license to deal but just to collect curios. Have fun.

Correct. No permission needed. A CLEO however could contact the ATF and object if they had reason to believe you would cause a problem. Never heard of it happening though.

Go to a police station and get printed on the supplied cards. Print 2"x2" photos and attach. Send it all in.

Send a copy (just the app form) to the CLEO and call it a day.

Remember that items 50 years or older and not prohibited (no AK's etc) are C&R as well, so sometimes you can find nice older stuff.

You can even buy C&R machine guns and other NFA weapons interstate and have them shipped straight to your door after a Form 4 approval.

Me, I've never used my C&R lol. Never had a reason to.

Thanks for the info. I eventually want to get a either a springfield or m1 garland and 1911. I think the old ww1 and 2 weapons were really something for their time. Look at the 1911, it's 100 years old and still regarded as one of the best pistols out there.

Does it say you need fingerprints done, or did they just include some fingerprint cards with the application they sent you? I am thinking they might have thrown in the fingerprint cards by mistake. I did not need fingerprints to apply for or renew my license.

1: go online and fill this out:
    http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5310-16.pdf
    print 1
top form gets mailed with item 2 to the atf with a check

bottom gets mailed to local Cleo. you do not need a response from him.

    item 2: http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5330-20.pdf
print 1 - gets mailed with top above.

    read this:
