Only wildlife officers, some veterinarians, and some other officers of the law are allowed to dispatch vehicular hit deer. PAGC will tell you to let nature take its course if you call. Sometimes they may send a WCO to finish it off if the officer is nearby.

However, it is not illegal to accidentally run the deer's neck/head over with your tire as you leave the scene. Logic would also dictate that, antlered deer would pose a risk to tires and other sensitive undercarriage things in such an accidental event.

    Good information!

While I do not bow hunt due to a physical limitation I know it takes a lot of repetitions and practice to become proficient with it as well as successful in the field.

The laws are getting so tangled it is like they are putting a band aid over something they did not give enough thought. You are now allowed to carry a bow and muzzle loader during the early loader season. I guess you could stick one and finish it off with the loader?

IANAL ,But a firearm used to dispatch a wounded deer ? I believe PGC would say you used the firearm first .The cost would be very expensive and you would not get to keep the deer,And lose your hunting priveldges for over a year .Not worth it ,just place another arrow into the ear canal ?

I can understand and excuse law makers not thinking of every possibility. It's when they refuse to amend that it becomes inexcusable.
And if PGC can't tell the difference between a contact/near contact pistol shot, or won't submit the sample to those that can, they have no business enforcing.

With absolute authority comes arrogance and abuse. Allowed entering a house without warrant to check a freezer for venison after July 31st, for example. Stopping any motor vehicle during big game season with flimsy to no suspicious reasons.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Having venison after July 31 hasn't been the law for probably 20 years or more.

Yes. The point though is search without warrant. Maybe a legal challenge halted it.

No the fact that multiple tags became available did it in.

The 4th amendment applies to the PA Game Commission. They can NOT search your home without a warrant.

My moral compass trumps PGCs inflated sense of control.

I will not see an animal suffer needlessly when I posess the means to stop the pain.

PGC is not doing a bang up job of dispatching car hit deer near here.

If I come upon a wounded one, I will stop it's pain with my pistol.
