Buying a gun in Japan....
This is a video about an American living in Japan who wanted to buy a gun and thoroughly documented the process. It makes you appreciate The United States

Highlights...
Shotguns are your only real options. Rifles require you to have had a shotgun for 10 years first, then you have to start the whole approval process again. Handguns are straight up illegal.
You can only have 800 rounds of ammo in your possession at any time. You have a log book the gun store signs when you buy ammo and you have to account for every round used in your log. The cops can stop by your house any time to check your log and count your rounds and it better match.
The gun and ammo must be kocked up in separate safes in different rooms. Again the cops can stop by to check anytime.
Only the licensed gun owner can have access to either safe. Not your wife.
You can only use the gun for trap shooting or hunting. Don't even think about using it to shoot a burglar.
Oddly there is no bag limit for hunting. Go nuts. You have 800 rounds of ammo? Bring home 800 deer.
You have to take a class to get a permit to take the range class to get a permit to apply for a license. The cops question your neighbors and co workers.Last edited by Spaceballs; April 6th, 2022 at 10:09 AM.

Exactly what the left wants, make it so complicated almost no one will own firearms.

It's a leftover M.O. from the the days of the empires. The citizens were forbidden to have weapons, which resulted in dances and exercises and ceremonies invented to disguise martial arts and conversion of ordinary tools and implements.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Wtf would any person born in the U.S. want to live in a feudal country like Japan? I can appreciate the study of Asian culture but not taking up residence there. The thought of living in a giant ant colony is repellent and just plain wrong.

Sounds somewhat similar to Korea. The biggest difference though is outside of actual hunting season your shotgun is stored in the local police station.
