Default Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 9mm

Has anyone seen anything on this stuff? I'm wondering if its just a ploy to sell ammo with the popularity of subs, or is their some merit to the round?

I read the reviews for it here: click and decided to try some. I've only fired them in the daytime, so haven't tested the low flash claims. That's what I was interested in. The fired cases were the cleanest I've ever seen. I haven't found any reviews on them yet, but did find a discussion about them here: click It looks like they're discussing a couple different calibers.

I shot the 9mm +p 124grain Short barrel ammo in ballistics gel covered in denim at a group shoot. Big thanks to the Corbon rep that came out that day and let us all try out our carry loads.

    From memory:
    Penetration was 15 inches
    expnaded to .47 inches
shot out of a XD subcompact 3 inch barrel

    I was very impressed

I have shot this ammo at night, and the flash retardent works very well, I was able to reaquire my Night Sights very quickly.

    Two notes on that day:
Hydrashocks are crap and failed to open regularly out of all sized guns in nearly all loadings. The exception being the +p+ 9mm out a 4 inch, which still didnt open uniformly, but was smoking hot at 1200 fps. I saw a 40SW hydrashock penetrate 14 inches and not open at all out of a full size gun. Anyone that wants to argue 9mm vs. 40sw take note of how the GD above performed out of a smaller gun.

Federal HST and Corbon DPX performed great consistantly in all callibers from all barrel lengths.
