Default Stun gun fails to work on wild boar

Stun gun fails to work on wild boar

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- While normally effective on people, a Hernando deputy learned the hard way that Taser stun guns do not work very well on wild boars.

The sheriff's office reports that Deputy Joseph Tibor responded to complaints of an "extremely large pig" tearing up a resident's yard in a Brooksville neighborhood Tuesday morning. He quickly found a 450-pound boar rooting up shrubbery and threatening a water fountain.

The animal then flashed his tusks toward onlookers. Tibor tried to stop it with his Taser, but the 50,000 volts had no effect on the animal.

The boar was eventually corralled into a neighbor's trailer.

I know that they make a taser that is to be used on animals, these vet Tasers are solid red. Through research I found out that these red tasers are definately Lethal as opposesd to Less-Lethal weapons. On humans they are bad karma.

Boars have a hide on them that rivals a rhino... a human taser probably feels like a mosquito bite to them.

I wonder what the inside of that neighbor's trailer looked like when they went in later to get the boar out. That job must have SUCKED.

    Stunguns and boar.... Well duh!

I've personally witnessed 7 30-30 150 or 170grain slugs fail to work on a boar from 50 yards into 5 yards, only to be stopped by a 20ga slug a couple feet away from me.

They have a virtually-impenetrable plate of bone armor in their chest/shoulder region, and about 2 inches of thick hide all around... only place to kill them is quartering away, low behind the front elbow (heart/lungs) or heavy calibre shell to the head at fairly close range.

Here's a barrow meat hog, somewhat feral-ish, that I got last winter. (I'm the one in the hat.)

Really? Would you volunteer to get hit with one to prove your statement?

I"ll stick to a .45 when i'm in need of killing a hog (or any other large beast for that matter) No need to risk it.

    I'll answer for him....

No thank you, I've been tagged with the handheld unit (stun gun?) that just has the two barbs and it hurts like hell.

I have seen someone tap a hog with 2 or 3 rounds of wolf softpoint 7.62x39 and it just ran off. Two days later we saw that same hog just playing around with something in a creek near the camp site.

Figured that thing had body armor and just left it alone.
