Can I shoot? (Westmoreland County)
Does anyone know what restrictions I would need to meet to shoot on the land I just bought (North Huntington, Pa)?
I have heard a bunch of different things and would love some guidance
Some of the things I have heard:
you need to own at least 5 acres (how much do you need to have)?
you need to be at least 150 yards away from the nearest house (not away form the neighbors land, just the house)?
you need a noise suppressor to avoid sound ordinance issues?
You need to have at least an acre and the Backstop must be at least 6/8/14ft?
Any time restraints (9am to 9pm?)?
Any help and information would be appreciated.Last edited by ctap; October 1st, 2008 at 04:27 PM.

Not sure where you would find them but you should check local ordanances(sp?)

It would think it would be legal to shoot unless (and this may be likely in your area i dont know) there are specific ordinances against it. The best way to find out would be to call or attend a twp/boro meeting and ask them there.
They would be the ones to pass such an ordinance (if one exists), they should be able to tell you.Last edited by jud4420; October 1st, 2008 at 05:08 PM.

Do any of your neighbors shoot on their land? You can check your local ordinances which are available at the Township or borough office. I'm pretty sure the NRA has some basic guideline/suggestions as to how to set up a range on private property.
