Default Pistol Cases Northstar vs Pelican

Im in the market for a hard pistol case. It looks like Pelican is a fine, safe buy. I came across Northstar cases.

    http://www.northstarcases.com/index.aspx

I am wondering if anyone has ever purchased a Northstar case and has any opinions on the Northstar versus pelican cases.

    TIA

    Chuck

Can't say much about the northstar cases, but I do love my Pelican's. I have three and am looking to buy my next one. Good luck

I also can't speak for the Northstar, but I stand by Pelican. I don't have any gun cases by pelican, but I have several other cases they make. I dropped a pelican containing a PSP two stories onto concrete with absolutely zero damage to the PSP and only some cosmetic scrapes to the case. I've also dropped them into running water and had to chase them down to find they are 100% waterproof. While in Iraq, my buddy got a 1010i case containing his ipod run over by an up-armored humvee (which weighs over 10,000 lbs.). The ipod survived completely unscathed. The case latch broke and it was scratched to hell though - but it did its job and saved the contents. He called Pelican and told them about it. They sent him a brand new case.

Pelican makes a top-notch product. They're expensive, but well-made. You can't go wrong with one.

I would say neither. I have always liked the pistol cases made by SKB.

Thumbs up Re: Pistol Cases Northstar vs Pelican

It's honestly no contest, Northstar Cases. Actually Northstar Cases is just the retailer, the cases are actually S3 Cases.

They are awesome, made in the USA, rigid ABS, guaranteed etc.

Pelican is paying for the brand, they are good cases, but there isn't a need, plus ABS is materially stronger than resin.

I've had awesome luck with Northstar Cases, and would recommend them, (my husband, brother and I have all bought stuff from them with no problems.

    I picked up the http://www.northstarcases.com/detail...stol+Case.aspx

    It's out-frickin-standing!

I've got 3 pelican's from one of the wicked small ones for my point and shoot digital to a medium breifcase size for suppressed handguns all the way up to the large sizes that can carry 2 rifles. They have been dropped, thrown, kicked and fallen with no signs of damage. Price is the only killer and the reason I haven't got one for the MG yet, as soon as I see another sale on them I'm picking up some more.

In short, Pelican all the way!

Huh? I'm not sure if you're bashing or praising Pelican with this post?

    Thanks everyone for you replies.

I ended up purchasing a pelican 1400 case on ebay for a pretty decent price, delivered last week.

    Thanks again for you input.
