    COLUMBIA, S.C. — Police in South Carolina want residents to have a rose for their sweeties on Valentine's Day.

    All they have to do is turn in a gun.

    Authorities are running the "Guns for Roses" program Saturday at Bethesda Church of God and the M.H. Newton Family Life Enrichment Center in Sumter, S.C., and Friendship Baptist Church in Columbia.

    Anyone turning in a gun gets a free rose and a Best Buy gift card. A handgun gets a $100 gift card, while a rifle or shotgun gets a $50 gift card.

    Police say the guns need to be unloaded and stored in a bag in the trunk of the car. An officer will meet people in the parking lot, take the gun and give out a voucher to be redeemed inside the church.

    The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

    Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
