Bethlehem Police display "lack of judgement"

Hmm, an officer can't pat down a suspect of the oposite sex and they only have two female officers? Depending on the build of the suspect, you could have to get pretty intimate with them in order to properly search them. So the male officers could have patted her down and then exposed themselves and the city to a lawsuit. Or use a metal detector and wand her, then what? Still can't pat her down! I think I've got to feel for the cops this time, based on what the newspaper printed ....

The problem is they never bothered to use the metal detector. If they had, and found the gun, then they coulda figured something out from there.

They were sloppy or lazy, but luckily nothing happened.

Yeah, if they'd have used the metal detector, they'd have known they needed to track down one of those 2 female officers ASAP.

If this department only has 2 female officers, could it be possible that they don't have a metal detection wand? The paper is only assuming the police have all this equipment.

Heck, I have a metal detection rod if they need to borrow it. They are cheap. Cheaper than the treasure-type metal detectors.

Police departments have these because they use them at concerts, at sporting events, and in courthouses (well ,the Sheriff does, anyway). Lots of students in the Bethlehem area, students need to be wanded at large gatherings.

There's no excuse for not wanding a homicide suspect who is in custody.
