    Default Sig Mosquito

I had a coupon for Cabela's, spend $500, get a gift card for $150, (plus they let me use another $20 coupon I had) so monday I went and picked up one of these. I got the reversed two tone model.
    http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/Sho...&productid=161

It was $340, plus taxes and transfer fees. It has a slightly cheap feel, with so much plastic, but even still, I like it. And it really looks nice with that finish.

Tuesday I put 100 CCI mini-mags through it with no problems. Wednesday night I put 100 Centurion AC22SP through it, and had two fail to feeds. Fired one shot, and had the first failure, and thought, crap, here we go. But everything went well till I was just about done, and the second to last shot didn't feed.

It shoots well. It's hitting a tad high, but once I adjusted my aim for that, I was able to keep everything very centered on a paper plate at 20 yards, shooting it as fast as I could. Little recoil, very controllable. I also threw some cans on a hillside, and was able to have them dancing around with just about every shot from 25 yards or so, with a little slower firing. So far, this has been a very fun gun. And a lot cheaper shooting than my P229 .40. (I've had that one a long time now, and just felt the need for more Sig, lol)

Now I need another mag or two, and might put the Sig light/laser on it. I'll shoot a brick or so, and by then I'll see if I want to give it to a buddy who is a gunsmith, to smooth it out a bit.

    Happy shooting y'all!

It's nice to hear good reports on these guns. Maybe Sig has worked out some of the kinks. I shot one before and really liked it.

I have one and we use the Remington 550rd boxes. Out of every box I may get about 2-3 rounds that don't fire. I have tried other manufacturers and it fails to fire frequently. It loves the Remington and shoots very well.

I don't think it has a cheap feel at all. It's rather heavy for a .22LR and fits nicely in your hand.

My Sig Mosquito was the most reliable paperweight I have ever bought. Man, that thing could hold down a stack of papers on a breezy day like you would not believe. I'd open the windows and take my Beretta NEOS .22 to the range, come back, and those papers would be right where I left them!

It was also a well-behaved traveler. It went back and forth to Sig three times, and every time, it made it there and back without a single complaint about poor behavior. That goddamn paperweight just loved to travel.

Hopefully, Sig has fixed their Mosquito Paperweight and turned it into a Mosquito pistol. Sadly, I will never know, because after experiencing Sig customer service, I will never waste money on their products again.

    Good luck!

+1 ON THE REMINGTON 550 RD BOXES - MINE LOVES EM. I USUALLY GET A FAILURE TO FIRE MAYBE 1 OUT OF 100 - BUT NO MISFEEDS.

^^^ Don't feel bad I bought mine used and tried 10 different types of ammo still would FTF,FTE etc. That lasted until the next gun show then traded it plus $50 for a Mossberg Persuader so I was not out too much $ if any. It is too bad I really liked the feel of the gun. I will have to stick with my Ruger Mark 2 for now.

Exactly what you said. CCI, Remington, Winchester, and others, nothing worked. But damn, it could hold those papers down!

You think Mosquito feels cheap, try P-22!
Although I liked my P-22 for its lightness, and fun plinker factor, I'm still convinced that my transition from P-22 to Mosquito was right choice.

Mosqueto feels more like a real gun - little more recoil then P-22, little louder then P-22, feels better made then P-22(although only just), and is more accurate then P-22.

In the way, I wish I kept P-22, and bought Mosquito separately. They are both good guns, if you maintain it right, and my P-22 shot everything I've fed with no issues(even the subsonic stuff).
My mosquito, on the other hand, I have to be somewhat conscious of my ammo choice. Mine, for some odd reason, do not like to feed CCI minimag.
but shoots most all well as long as i pick right recoilspring.

But makes me feel good when my niece and I go shoot, she shoots mosquito, and I shoot my P-226..

The "cheap" comment probably stems from this being my first plastic frame firearm. I wasn't expecting to feel the slight flex above the rail. It does feel solid while shooting, with a nice fit to my hand. I bought it as a plinker, and seems like it will be fun for that. (fingers crossed)

Also, the size seems right for smaller hands, so I thought it would be nice for the younger ones.

Some of us went in on a case of the Centurion AC22SP a little while back, so I'll keep feeding it with those for a while. But will try a bunch of other brands to see what works and what doesn't.

That sucks to hear about the issues with some of these. I will feel lucky if mine shoots with little fuss. I already know I can be accurate with it.

For anybody interested, there were two nice used stainless bull barrel Ruger Mark 2 semi's sitting in the Cabelas used counter, $400 each.

I love my Mosquito. It's picky about ammo, sure, but it has the feel of a full size real gun with the buttons in the "right" places (other than the stupid slide mounted safety) unlike the toyish feels of the Neo, P22, or MK III. The advantage to this is you get to practice malfunction drills with it if you throw a random round of ammo it does like into the mag. Can't do that with "my gun eats everything" gun.
