    Question 9MM

I would like to purchase a 9mm. I would also, at times, carry this concealed. I have done my research and inspected many models at the dealer. The three I have narrowed it down to are: Taurus 809, Ruger SR9 and the XDM 9MM. I have other Taurus and Ruger firearms. A Glock is an obvious option, but they are too big. My wife and daughter would also use this gun. Obviously, the gun that feels the best when firing is the appropriate choice. Until I have the opportunity, my questions are:
    1. What are your thoughts on hammer fired verses striker fired pistols?
    2. Which of the three would be the best choice for concealed carry?
    3. Which of the three would be the most durable?
    4. Which gun would provide the best aftermarket options (laser, flashlight, holster, etc.)
    5. Any experiences with the these would be appreciated.
    Thank you

If you want a Glock, they do have sub compact models.

Out of the three listed, the XDM hands down. Taurus semi-autos have a track record of problems and should be avoided, especially for a carry gun. The SR9 had recalls, which makes me question its reliability. The XDs are great guns. I carry a Glock 17L, but I OC, and the 17L is obviously too large for a CC pistol. The G26 might be an option though, unless by too big you meant that the grip is too thick, which is a complaint many people have with Glocks.

Of the selections you listed, I would recommend the XDM

if a glock is to big, i am assuming you mean grip size since an XDm 9 is an option.

i am an XD fan and own 3. XD45, XD9sc, XDm 9mm. LOVE them all. i also own three Taurus wheel guns and have been thinking about a PT1911. i dont care for the other semi's they make.

i dont like ANY rugers EXCEPT for the 10/22 and the mini30/14. just not a fan as with glocks.

i would go for the XD, as my 3 have NEVER let me down and are all shot more than any other pistol i own. even my FAVORITE my Beretta M9. (might want to look into it as an option as well if you havent already)

All 3 of your choices are too big for CC IMO. However, of this list, I'd pick the XDM.

For compact models, my list is G26, Kahr K9, and of course, the HK P7/P7M8.

Any of those guns could be CC'ed with great ease.
Different positions around your waist and a forward cant and you've just concealed a full size firearm. I do it all the time and nobody knows a thing.

Go with the XDm 9 as your purchase. It comes with interchangeable backstraps on the grip so you could put a small one on for the wife and daughter.

i have a Taurus PT92C it is flawless (hammer). i have a SR9 with a Glocklike trigger on layaway at the gun shop , if its recalled Ruger will fix it for free and ship you a free extra 17 round magazine if the SR9 you buy is a recalled trigger. the SR9 i put on layaway the gun shop already took care of the recall and it comes with 2 -17 round magazines was only 429.00 .

SR9 would be a good choice if you like reliability.

I think this pretty much destroys the SR9's reliability out of the box.

I think of the 3 the XDm would offer you the greatest reliability.
You get a life time warranty when you purchase the springfield xdm brand new.
