Default Anti-gun legislation has moved from the PA House to Senate

Anti-gun legislation has moved from the PA House to Senate, and these bills directly attack your constitutional rights as a law-abiding gun owner.

We cannot permit any further erosion of our God-given Second Amendment rights.

The following two bills have shifted to the Republican-held Senate and are currently sitting in the Senate Judiciary Committee:

HB 714 (Warren) – Universal Background Checks bill passed out of the PA House and is now in Senate Judiciary Committee. Bill Information - House Bill 714; Regular Session 2023-2024 - PA General Assembly
    https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs...type=B&bn=0714

HB 1018 (O’Mara)– Extreme Risk Protection Order “Red Flag Laws” bill passed out of the PA House and is now in Senate Judiciary Committee. Bill Information - House Bill 1018; Regular Session 2023-2024 - PA General Assembly
    https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs...type=B&bn=1018

These bills will do nothing to stop violent criminals, but they will infringe on your ability to own a firearm and massively erode your right to due process.

And it is up to grassroots gun owners in Pennsylvania to apply political pressure and politely demand these bills be immediately killed in the Senate!

So please call the Senate Judiciary Chair, Senator Lisa Baker, and urge her to put an end to these unconstitutional moves in committee.

    Contact details are as follows:

Calling this afternoon. My area code is not from here but I am a resident of PA and only PA.

Edit: Called. They asked for name address and phone number and recorded my opinion on the matter.

Wouldn't the Pa. Constitution and the U s Constitution have to be changed by a 3/4 vote first.

Theoretically all gun control violates the U.S. 2A but in practice we've seen we have to fight every bill before passing, or we're subject to force until lawsuits overturn it. Better to stop this now and consider voting better in the future. (That includes primaries)

Did those prohibitions stop the Handgun Sales Registry?

Here is how these buzzards work - they pass an unconstitutional law. It gets routed to their fellow travelers in the Democratic controlled PA State Supreme Court. Up becomes down, black becomes white.

Is any piece of paper more than a speed bump for the neo-Bolsheviks?

I though the state supreme court was pro-2A in its rulings

The PA Supreme Court has nothing to do with this thread.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

OK, so, I don't think any element of PA government is pro 2A, or conservative,
or constitutionally conservative. Not today. I don't count on it at all.
Some individuals may be, but their numbers seem to be dwindling.

Post Heller, MacDonald, and Bruen, I would be more hopeful about SCOTUS.
