LTCF question
Many moons ago while living in MD I had a PA LTCF and it had my picture on it. Now that I am retired and living in PA I want to get another one. Do I need to provide pictures for it. From looking at all the information provided on the site I don't see that I do. Thanks-George

Re: LTCF question
i think it depends on the county. in allegheny county, they take your picture for you. but i think some counties might even issue LTCFs that do not have a picture on them. and others may require you to bring your own photo.
you might want to check out your county sheriff's website. it might tell you.
(or maybe some PAFOAer from your county might chime in.)

Re: LTCF question
York County Sheriff's webpage about LTCF. I didn't see anything on there, or the "instuctions" file linked from that page that mentions pictures. Hopefully, someone from York County will pop in here with an answer.
EDIT: Yes, I know, the sheriff incorrectly calls it a "concealed weapons permit", and says he contacts references AND employers and won't approve your application if he can't contact them, but check out his "firearms responsibility page" and see some of the stuff he says there.....Last edited by IV_Warrior; September 30th, 2008 at 09:43 PM.

Re: LTCF question
Just talked to them, I left a message and they called me back ASAP and had a good attitude. You don't send a picture, they take it when you pick it up.

Re: LTCF question
York County takes your picture and then prints it when you go to pick up the LTCF.

Re: LTCF question
I can't seem to find this anywhere.... does anyone have the address of where I go to complete the application and what hours they are open to do so? My printer is not working at the moment and I'd like to go pick one up if possible. Thanks.

York County Application Instructions for Concealed Weapons Permit
From the above link I love this contradiction ....

Your firearms license is for Pennsylvania only. There are states that accept Pennsylvania Licenses. Information on reciprocity can be obtained from the PA Attorney General’s Office.
I didn't see office hours but I'm sure if you contact them at the number below they'll help you out.

Re: LTCF question
Go to the courthouse on George St in York. Last I was in, they had the paperwork at the x-ray machine. You didn't need to go through security. Ask one of the deputies at the entrance.

Re: LTCF question
What do those of you who carry & travel do when leaving the state? While many states recognize a PA LTCF, we are almost completely surounded by states who do not. Other than always leaving the state via WV, how would one travel with their firearm to a recriprocating state without breaking the law in states like MD NY NJ etc?
