    Sticking with the "two is one, one is none" theme.
    ARs are dirt cheap now. I just ordered a parts rifle. I don't have any need for another AR, and I'm not going to set it up for anything in particular, I bought it for parts and if I need to quickly, swap out the upper or lower. That's really the super nice thing about ARs, If I break a spring or firing pin, I can just swap the whole upper in a pinch or I can pull a part from another upper.
    Anyone buy an extra rifle just for parts?

    My extra rifles are for New York reloads.

    Never bought a whole gun for a parts gun, but there's certainly nothing wrong with doing so.
    I just happen to have enough "not a parts guns" that I don't need a parts gun.
    I do have a few extra BCGs. The entire BCG is a little overkill - could likely just buy spare bolts, but the extra cost for an entire BCG isn't excessive, and allows for instant "swapabilty".

    I could do that, but I'd end up with an SBR.

    Not much difference between an extra gun and a parts gun except I'm not setting this one up with any accessories. I've got extra guns that are set up and ready to use but this one will sit naked. I guess the only real difference between an extra gun and a parts gun is mind set.

    I have two generators. But they are only 2000 watt generators.

    I can parallel them for 4000 watts if needed though.

    How about a second transportation device (also known as automobile).

    Should it be one prior to the late 70s to avoid electronic, computerized dependencies for some emergency situations? Valid concern or overkill?

    The.problem with 70s and early 80s vehicles is you can't find parts as easily any more. Sure, Advanced Auto may have parts for them, or they may have to order the parts, but you will have trouble scrounging for.them. On the other hand, newer 2000-2022 truck parts are everywhere. The sweet spot is probably a vehicle manufactured around 85-88, the last years of carburators but not so old you can't find parts on the streets.
