    Default USGI .45 Colt 1911 US property marked, WWI era

    This is an old 1911, with minimal original finish left. There is evidence of some old pitting on the slide and elsewhere, but no active corrosion;

    It is US Property marked, and has about 3% finish left. It is a 1911, made in 1918 or 1917, I forget which.

    Of note, is the unusual clear grip panels with "Pinup" drawings inside. Apparently, it was a practice in WW2 and Korea to make grip panels out of the Lexan bubbles of downed and damaged aircraft. I don't know specifically, but it is not too much of a stretch of the imagination to think that they came off a bomber or fighter from WW2.

    It has been a safe queen, for the last 12 years or so, and I have never fired it.

    Mechanically it seems tight.

    I am willing to travel a bit to complete the sale, any distance beyond 40 miles from 19363 we can negotiate.

    Sold, Pending Funds

    He was one of God’s own prototypes—a high-powered mutant of some kind who was never even considered for mass production. He was too weird to live and too rare to die....
