Are Pistol Caliber Carbines Useless?
Is it stupid to have a carbine that's chambered
in a pistol caliber vs a rifle caliber?
Yes?

Re: Are Pistol Caliber Carbines Useless?
Absolutely not. PCC's are for CQB in my book. AR's are field rifles where close quarters and mobility is not an issue. And I would rather avoid firing 5.56 in a hallway and never hearing again.
And there's so many good ones. The ps90 is probably my favorite. Light weight bullpup design with no recoil at all, but ammo is pricy and sometimes hard to find. The cz scorpion and stribog are excelent options in 9mm as well, with folding brace options and threaded barrels for suppressors, plus a slew of mag and drum options.

You're just bored and lookin' to stir the pot.
I need a few facts clarified first. Is 5.7 a pistol or rifle caliber? Is .30 carbine a rifle or pistol caliber? Please include definitions which clearly differentiate pistol and rifle calibers.

Re: Are Pistol Caliber Carbines Useless?
They worked well for years when they were the rage for police depts all over the country.
The mp5 was the shit. The issue was you had to shoot people multiple times to get them stopped. A pistol round is still a pistol round, even if it comes out of a carbine.
The ar in 5.56 goes through soft body armor like shit through a goose and no pistol round can compare to what it does to evil peeps. Keep stirring the pot.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Re: Are Pistol Caliber Carbines Useless?
I'm not a fan of them, because I find shooting pistols to be be more enjoyable and would rather use the ammo in them. But they are certainly a valid choice for a house gun.

Re: Are Pistol Caliber Carbines Useless?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a gun just to have fun with. Steel loves the PCC when rifle calibers would blow holes through it. Ammo is economical of powder and lead and the straight wall cartridges fall out of progressive reloaders at 400 or more an hour. Muzzle blast and recoil are mild. Children love them as much as adults.
My .357 Magnum 1894C and 9mm AR are two of my favorite rifles to knock around with. You may have a different opinion. If so, don*t buy one.
