AR lessons?
So, I am looking into getting an AR style weapon.
Most likely just buying an upper and a lower from del-ton, and putting them together, but I know nothing about ARs.
Is there some kinda "expert" in the area willing to impart some lurnin' in exchange for beer or ammo?

Re: AR lessons?
I would strongly suggest you consider consulting Dave Donely of Donely's Guns in Quakertown. He is perhaps the bes AR smith in the area and his prices are very reasonable. He will be able to "create" the exact AR you want given your shooting requirements. Dave's website is http://www.gunrunner1000.com

Re: AR lessons?
+1 for donley, if you plan on doing a lot of shooting (twice a week), start reloading, i also recommend a piston operated system, not a gas tube system. most will say its not necessary, its not, my issued m4 doesn't have a piston, but my personal rifle does, and i shoot my own rifle alot more then i do my issued one. if you have any more questions, just shoot me a PM.

Re: AR lessons?
Piston systems are also a lot more money. It's great that they keep the action clean and run great, but not many people have the extra cash to spend on a piston AR.

Re: AR lessons?
+1 on piston AR's....
I also have a LWRC SRT (now called the M6A2), and it's an amazing system that takes punishment and still stays clean and functional. The owner of Seneca down in Green Lane is very good with ARs as well as Donleys.

Re: AR lessons?
They operate essentially like an M16, and there are TONS of handbooks and guides that you can find via the army which are written so that 4th graders could understand. They're not a complicated weapon in any way, and honestly a good M16 youtube video will probably teach you all you need to know to shoot it/assemble it.
