Default Where to put voice recorder?

So I am needing ideas where to put a voice recorder when I go out..I don't think it would work well in shorts pockets and none of my shirts have a pocket. also does everyone just turn them on when they think there will be issues? my worry would be going by people that are talking and you record them, then if something happens and the police take it and play it.

also is there a flier or anything about recording the police? im going to an event for work at a park that i got their stupid ordinance about carrying guns.

I typically carry mine in a pocket, and I DON'T turn it on until I am certain I want to capture an exchange that is about to begin (or has just begun).

You can see my reasoning in this thread, where I've just explained my understanding of the potential risks of doing so.

Thanks, so only turn it on before shtf. You carry in shirt pocket? or pants/shorts?

What happens if they make you turn it off? or take it and turn it off?

They can't "make me" turn it off.

Having it taken/turned off/destroyed is a risk, but I KNOW I won't capture anything if I don't have it with me. There is a little bit of a trick to turning it off, but anyone who's literate can probably figure it out.

I carry it in a shirt pocket if I have one, and a pants pocket if I don't. I wouldn't rely on it to record very well if it were recording while in a pants pocket.

using a phone might be beneficial over using a standalone recorder because you can use applications like qik where the audio/video is stored locally on your phone AND on the qik servers so if you get a zealot police officer who might try to smash your phone up, or might try to erase the recording, it'll be stored safely.

Downside to all of this is when you have an encounter like Viper had, and tehn you go fiddling in your pockets.

    No easy solution I guess.

That's why Viper's method of recording was good. Even a $40 voice recorder has space for hours and hours of recording. Just start it going when you leave the house and it's recording all the time.

I've been carrying mine in a leatherman type pouch.

If the recorder isn't very heavy, you could probably put it on one of those flash drive lanyards and wear it around your neck.

I used mine in the front pocket of my jean shorts yesterday and was amazed how well it worked. RCA 5220. It can record around 200 hours or It can be voice activated.
