VHT Auto epoxy paint for gun coat.
I was looking at VHT auto epoxy paint . Just want opinions. It's self priming and will stand up to all weather and oils or solvents . Should be cheaper than cerakote. What do you all think. Thanks Dan

Don't go cheap...get KG Gunkote/Norrell's Moly Resin or Cerakote. I don't know how thick that epoxy is that you are considering, but the others that I mentioned are not very thick.
In life, most times you get what you pay for...I've used all of those products that I have mentioned.

VHT (very high temperature) engine block paint is intended for automotive engines that get hot. The paint will not cure if merely air dried. The explanation and instructions are on the can. It can also be found online.
I painted a friends AKM flat black and cured it in our kitchen oven. Turned out great and has held up well.

Ive used the vht suspension paint on aks and it holds up well, but it either takes weeks to cure or you must bake it somewhat. Ive used a small electric space heater and made a box around the gun to keep heat in.
