I can not comprehend that people, in general, only care about what concerns them at this very moment.

They have no regard for the future, or what the future may hold for their children.

My wife, for example, would ask me what's going on in the news. For example, I mention that foreign governments are buying major shares in American banks (happening on top of a major credit / housing crisis).

She looks at me like a deer in headlights, and says, "ok," then continues to be memorized by Keeping Up with the Kardashians, on E!.
