Default Pre Election: Buy a AR-15 reciever or complete rifle

Concerned about Nobama getting into office. Want to build up an AR-15 anyway. Before the election, should I buy a AR-15 reciever or complete rifle? Don't know what kind of rifle I would want to build up yet, so am leaning towards the reciever.

    complete.

If only for the reason that prices will SKYROCKET if there is an AWB put in place.

Or buy a lower for the AR. And then buy a AK with what you have left.

You will be able to get the parts after the ban. It is the lower that you won't be able to get. Then request the parts from friends and family as Christmas Gifts, to build the AR over the winter months.

Why settle for one when you can have both.

I'm buying another AK. Need one more so everyone in the family has one.

I would buy complete cause who knows what kind of things they can add to the AWB like "manufacturing" a firearm without an 07 FFL. So to be on the safe side buy a complete lower and you may save yourself some money later.

This would be my reasoning to get a full gun. We don't know what a new ban could bring, but it will most certainly not be the exact same as the last one so if its something you want i'd get it.

But I thought that the reciever was the only item registered. How would they know when I put the rifle together?

Under the previous ban you had to have the rifle completely built ... so just buying a lower doesn't really help.

I'm sure that some people built their lowers anyways but that still doesn't change what the law said.

Buy lowers, I just bought two and will be buying a pistol lower as well just for good measure. Registering one as an SBR is a good idea also.
