Is it legal to fire your handgun at a rifle firing point
Is it legal to fire your handgun at a rifle firing point at a SGL that only has rifle firing points. The SGL in my area, Pike 183, has 11 Rifle points and no handgun points. I understand that at an official joint use range you can only have 3 rds in a rifle and 6 in a handgun. If you are legally allowed to fire a handgun at a SGL set up for rifle, do you have to load only 3 rds.

Re: Is it legal to fire your handgun at a rifle firing point
it's not a law issue in legal or illegal, but may be a fineable offense under the rules for the range.
you need to refer to the specific rules for the range, preferably try the local PAGC officer in the area.
unless you want to shoot from long distance(50-100yds), all PAGC ranges I've been on prohibit shooting from beyond the fixed positions, even carrying a loaded firearm beyond the fixed shooting positions....so walking down to shoot close up when the range is even totally empty save for you is unsafe, and will get you fined most likely.
I've shot pistol at the 50 and 100yd targets just to see what my results were, but its pretty useless for regular shooting"Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

This SGL range is setup for 25/50/100 so firing at 25 is not a problem.

Re: Is it legal to fire your handgun at a rifle firing point
I shoot at Pike 183 periodically and there are usually several hand gunners at the 25 yard.
Sometimes they will agree to all fire down range at 20 – 30 feet if the 50 yard range is empty. No one typically shoots only 3 rounds at a time… Most take 2 or more pistols down range then back up range to reload. (Sometimes shooting a mag or 2)… Firing down range is by agreement and someone going down range will always ask for an all clear before proceeding.

read the range rules that are probably posted ...if someone hasn't shotgunned them...they staple them to the tables around here in SE PA.
the rules specifically prohibit loaded firearms past the firing line...they WILL fine you, I've watched it happen.
If you think its worth a fine, go ahead and do it"Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
