    Default New Rifle from Ruger

    New one from Ruger:

Looks like they're after some of the entry level market. I like the tang safety although I wished it locked the bolt. I'm not so sure about the looks of the forend.

this guy is partial to ruger but overall i find his reviews on the level and well done

and i also like the tang safety, as jeff says "where god meant it to be"

It doesn't look like this model has the Mauser style bolt, which is one of the reasons I like my M77 All Weather so much. If I were in the market for another bolt gun, I'd like to try out their Scout Rifle.

Another entry level bolt gun to compete with Marlin, Savage, TC, etc ... competition is a good thing! I love my Marlin XL-7 25-06 but would give the Ruger a chance if I needed another.

Looks like a Savage Axis UNTIL you look at the details:

    - 70 degree bolt, which means it won't hit your scope when cycling
    - Adjustable Trigger
    - Two-position Safety
    - Free Floating Barrel
    - Comes with Weaver scope base
    - Easily Detachable box magazine
    - Less than $500.00!!

Now, if Ruger can just make this in .308, and then give us some higher capacity magazines, I'll purchase one.

Definitely takes it to the other brands with having an adjustable trigger at sub 500 prices. Wonder what actual dealer pricing will be if MSRP is $449.

They do offer it in .308

    http://www.ruger.com/products/americanRifle/models.html

I am impressed. I have been looking for an American made rifle, synthetic, bedded with adjustable trigger.

I am usually a Remington man, but just purchased my first savage 116 in 7MM Rem Mag.

Not that this would have changed my mind, but it would have added to the mix.

Mostly it was between the TC, Savage, the next rifle may be a browning or TC.....

I think all rifles and shotguns should have a tang safety, whenever possible.

Crossbolt safeties blow massive chunks when it comes to being a lefty.
