Kel-Tec P9

Anybody have one of these? I wantone as a pocket pistol. What's the reliability like? What are some other options for pocket guns?

The PF9 was released about 6 mths ago...then recalled.

Kel-Tec , Like Kahr is having problems with their mini 9x19.

I hear that a few have been released over the last month, but based on Kel-Tecs R&D practices...I would wait until next year before I bought one.

Kel-Tec released the P32 and P3AT to the general public, and then fixed every problem people had. They used these problems to perfect their design creating at least 2 "generations" of each gun.

I own a P32 and really like it for pocket carry. Kel-Tec has great customer service, and they stand behind their guns. But history has proven that early version Kel-Tec's are a crap shoot at best.

You being used to Glocks reliability...might be disappointed.

I paid the extra money for the Kahr based on reliability.

I looked at the PF9 for a pocket pistol but it really isn't much smaller than the P11 (Kel-Tec's other 9x19). It's just a hair slimmer due to it being a single stack but the side profile is barely an improvement and I was expecting more considering all the hype.

I looked at the kel-tecs but didn't buy one. I have big hands and none of the kel-tecs felt good to me. The kahr was a contender but I didn't like the price. Settled on the beretta tomcat and like it a lot. Fits the hand nicely, is very concealable and is more accurate than I thought it would be. The beretta web site states that a 60gr hydroshock is equal to the power of a .380. Definately worth a look.

i was looking at one last week, it just did not feel right in my hand, so i purchased a p-11 instead

This wouldn't be my primary carry piece, so the hand thing doesn't matter in this case. It's just going to be a gun that I can throw in my pocket when I'm somewhere that I wouldn;t be able to wear my cargo pants and a polo shirt.

I went with a S&W 642 for pocket carry. It's a 5 shot .38 +P aluminum frame, fully enclosed hammer (centenial frame) It works great for front pocket carry, and being a revolver, doesn't have feeding and reliability issues of an auto...

I've been wavering between a p3at and a pf9 for about the last 6 months, but since the p3at is smaller and summer is coming I'm going to get it as soon as my income tax return comes, and I'll get the pf9 when the bugs are worked out of it for iwb carry.
