Default couple of questions/ can and cant do with permit

After alot of phone calls and going to record rooms, Phone calls and getting files, I finaly got approved and went and picked up my LTCF on NOV. 1st.

I have a few questions before I put my Glock in my waistline (untill I get a holster) and carry it with me.

    1. It says at the top Left hand space of the ID Pennsylvania License To Carry Firearms. Does this mean I can carry anywhere in PA? The Sheriff who issued my LTCF is the Sheriff of Allegheny County. His signature is on the bottom of my ID. I live in Allegheny County but I have land in Venango County and that is where I will be useing the Pistol the most at my Range.

1.PT-2- If it is only legal to carry in the county I got my License in how, if possible, do I get a LTCF in all the countys of PA?
If that is not possible Would I need a LTCF for every county I frequent?

    2. Is there anyplace that I cant carry a Pistol into? Hospital,DRs office, Police station, Legal Building, Airport, School? I will use my judgement obviously but it would be nice to know if there are any restricted places.

3.This question is only for the time being and that is around 7 days at the most but I am still curious.
Do I legaly need a holster?
I am definatly going to get one as soon as possible. Untill then can I just tuck it inbetween my thigh and jeans?

    4. Is it legal to carry with one in the chamber? Or a full clip +1?
My Glock 19 standerd clip holds 15.
Is it legal to have 15 in the clip and one in the pipe?
I will more than likely never do this but I would still like to know. My Neighbor up at my camp/ Long time family friend asked me this same question the other week and I couldnt say one way or the other so I just told him dont.

Feel free to add any other laws about the subject I may have missed on my list. Thanks in advance.

    Neil,

1: You can carry ANYWHERE in PA and reciprocity states. (see link below)

2: http://www.pafoa.org/law Read through here to answer this question and others similar.

3: I don't believe you do, though it's highly recommended you use a holster simply to keep the weapon from moving around and also if you carry +1, a holster protects the trigger.

4: You can carry 3408957248957 +1 if you want with 47 spare mags. No restrictions.

What your gonna wanna do is use the search function. These are all questions that are answered once a day on this forum.

    1) Your license is good for all counties.
    2) There is no law requiring you to use a holster (though it is highly recommended)
    3) Police carry +1, as do most people. No it is not illegal.
    4) Enjoy.

    • Get yourself a decent holster.

    • No, you're not limited to carry in Allegheny county.

    • It's not a "permit", it is what it says it is - LTCF.

    • Don't ever say "clip" in my presence again - got it? It's a magazine. You can call it a "mag" if you wish.

    • I'm just dicking with you on number 4. (But seriously, it's not a "clip".)

    • Yes, it's legal to jam it in your waistband like a thug. Please refer to my first point.

    • Load it up with as many rounds as you wish - top it off if you wish. I wouldn't carry a handgun without one in the chamber, but to each his own, and admittedly, I carried w/o one in the chamber for the first week I carried.

    • I'll let someone else chime in on the "restricted places".

First things first - don't carry without a holster. You need to secure your firearm and keep the trigger covered.

Second, read the stickies posted at the top of the Concealed & Open Carry forum. They discuss where you can and cannot legally carry a firearm in the Commonwealth in detail.

    1. As said, your Valid PA LTCF is accepted across the state as well as other states that accept the license. - More Reciprocity info from the Attorney Generals Website: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/crime.aspx?id=184

    2. See Above.

    3. Very Good Sticky - http://forum.pafoa.org/concealed-ope...nsylvania.html - Below answers this particular question though.

The license also provides for the privilege of carrying openly or concealed on the streets in a City of the First Class(Philly).

Off-limits places in PA and what makes them off-limits:
    1. Court Facilities - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subsection 913
2a.*Grounds and buildings of Elementary and Secondary schools(K-12 grades), whether the school is private or public. There is an affirmative defense for "other lawful purposes" however there is no case law determining on what that includes. To be safe, its wiser to assume it does not include our carrying "rights". - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subsection 912
2b. Within 1000ft of a school unless you have a license/permit issued by the state in which the school is located - US Title 18, Part I, Chapter 44, Subsection 922(q)
    3. Casinos - by regulation Title 58, Part VII, Chapter 465, Subsection 465a.13
    4. Certain Department of State buildings - by regulation
    5. ****Places off-limits by Federal Law or regulation, IE: military installations(exceptions for hunting at some bases), Federal Government buildings, after the security check point in airports, etc.
    6. Any private property where a landowner, tenant or person so authorized to maintain property has asked you to leave because you are carrying, or where the property owner or tenant has placed signs or placards denoting that guns are forbidden - Title 18, Chapter 35, Subsection 3503
    7. Detention facilities, correctional institutes, or mental hospitals - Title 18, Chapter 51, Subsection 5122

If you do not see the place in question in the list above - then its NOT off-limits in Pennsylvania. Yes, you may legally carry in a bar, tavern, club, or church in PA.

Off-limits places apply just the same for open as they do concealed, except State Parks require the carrier to conceal and to be licensed.
    4. You don't need a holster per say. You can just have the firearm laying in the center console if you so choose. However, you really should get a quality holster that will suit you needs.

    5. No limits on how much you can carry in the firearm or out of it as stated by others.

This is very good news. Thank you all. I will use the search function next time. I know I used to bitch at people all the time that would post before searching on ATV Racing fourms.

As far as getting a holster I know damn well I need one and to come to think about it the first time I brought it out tucked in my waistbband I was overly alert that it was there and not secured by a holster. Espically in the Gas Station drink section I was bending down and I was very uncomfterble about it shifting around.

Then I heard two people say watch out for Glock leg. I forget who said it then one guy I know used Plaxico Burress as an example. That is complete BS! Plaxico had to be messing around with the pistol in some way or the other trying to get it out with no reguard for saftey and shot himself in the leg. People who think Glocks just automaticly go off if your carrying one need a good smack! Glocks or any firearm for that matter in any case are only as safe as the person handeling them.

Hey EmptyMag did it get on your nerves when Marlboro said to Harley " 44 mag Desert Eagel 8 in the "Clip" ahhh one in the Pipe". Just curious. I guess im off to get a shower and clip my beard then read my Guitar World Magazine. Take care Bud

Connal, Where in Venango do you stomp about? My property is rite off of 208 in the Village of Nectarine, rite off of Jacobs road. I always appricate good company. I have a very nice Shooting Range on my land. Mabey you could teach me a trick or two and in turn Ill pull out the Yamaha Banshee and pay it forward!!!! PM me or Ill get back to you in a PM later. Its past my sacktime.

Thanks again everybody. All of the information is very much apriciated and stimulating. Good stuff.
