WB Police & Public Carry!
I was target shooting with a friend of mine who is a WB police officer. He was shooting a .40 S&W and I was shooting a .45 ACP. It was unbelieveable how poorly he shot. I said to him no wonder why more and more people in this city are packing iron. Even though he is a good friend it doesn't excuse his performance on the range. I told him you really need to be more skilled in your shooting if your going to carry on duty, and he should spend less time in the coffee shop and more time at the range( Yes I am very blunt). Needless to say he told me I should go "F' myself. He said that I was only good on the range because I had too much time on my hands and practiced alot, I told him "well I should if I carry on the streets" I think he released what I said was true to life, and he needed to get more range time. He is a stand up guy and we will always be friends but it goes to show why the gun carrying public needs to keep their shooting skills sharp while carrying on the streets.

From what I've heard (from a LEO) that's pretty common. Your average LEO can barely shoot well enough to pass the qualification.

Re: WB Police & Public Carry!
I thought W-B had an indoor range for LEO's to use. How often do they have to qualify and what are the qualification requirements???

WB PD has some strange priorities to say the least. They have some good officers but they have weak and politically motivated leadership. The mayor is one of them.

Re: WB Police & Public Carry!
Mere excuses, all.
If LEOs cared about their firearms proficiency, more of them would get out and shoot "just because."
I saw an PA state trooper in WaWa the other day and remarked to him "So, how do you like those new Glock 37s?"
"Uh, what? These are .45s."
"Yeah, but it's a Glock model 37, chambered in .45 GAP."
"Oh. I'm not really into guns."

The vast majority of LEO's are not gun people. They don't hunt, shoot (recreationally), etc. Should they be able to hit the broad side of a barn? Yes. But trust me, as a LEO firearms instructor I've tried and tried to convince some of them to get out and fire as little as 50rds every week or so. You don't have to shoot a thousand rounds during a a range trip to stay proficient.
That being said, it's been about 3-4 weeks since I've been to the range. Between my son graduating from PSU, moving him to Virginia, moving my daughter to Altoona, getting ready for a party for my son (today), etc...range time has been bad. Hopefully, I'll be able to get out next week.
