Foreign Government Firearm Import Marks
Anyone have a good source to identify a foreign country by the import/proof marks they stamp on a US made firearm that was purchased/imported? I saw a Ruger GP100 for sale (manufacturer date would have been 1988-1989) that was brought back into the US by PW Arms, Redmond, WA (absolutely no idea when). The foreign import mark is on the left side of the frame and is a CG over a crown. The C is not clear but it does not look like a screwed up G either.
I cannot even find any good info to say if PW Arms is even still in business, I know they had some problems with the ATF in the distant past.Last edited by Xringshooter; May 6th, 2020 at 05:06 PM. Reason: clarification

Re: Foreign Government Firearm Import Marks
PW is not in business anymore. They were an importer. I have a CZ-82 from Classic Arms with their import mark. The other marks are probably proof marks. Most foreign countries require imported firearms to be proofed.

I'll try, it was a Gunbroker ad (that did not sell - and hasn't been relisted yet)

Re: Foreign Government Firearm Import Marks
PW Arms is still in business, but they are strictly wholesale only. They most recently brought in Chinese SKS from Albania and some Zastava Tokarevs.
PW Arms guns are imported through Dan's Sporting Goods, https://www.dansammo.com/Default.asp , who is the entity with the actual import license and permits, and who receives the firearms and import-marks them on behalf of PW Arms. If a Ruger handgun is PW Arms marked, it was marked by Dan's.
I suggest you call them and ask for Dan, if no answer, keep trying again and again. He's not there all day every day, and is sometimes out of the country.

Noah, Thank you very much. The research I have done seemed to point to Dan's Sporting Goods so I'll try them tomorrow.
Here is a picture of the proof mark
